We will use fun activities to understand the stories we study. We will read them, illustrate them, write scripts and act them out, and reflect on them in writing. We will have several projects that involve making things. We will make plays, videos, ibooks, posters, maps, and other art. We will also get to go outside and experience the beauty of nature.
Attendance: It is very important to be on time to class every day. Threetimes tardy in one quarter will result in a detention.
Homework: You will receive very little homework in this class. But that means that every assignment will have a large effect on your grade. So it is very important that you complete every assignment. I will tell you about the homework in class, write it on the board, and post it on RenWeb. It is very important that you turn your work in on time. Any late work will receive a lowered grade. If you are sick or miss school it is still your responsibility to complete the homework. You can check Renweb, email me, or ask another student, to find out what work you missed.
Grading: The San Domenico grading scale applies at all times. Each assignment will be worth a certain number of points, and your grade will be calculated as a percentage of the total points.
Participation: Participation is essential to doing well in this class. I want everyone involved in every discussion and activity. From time to time I may give you extra credit if I notice that you are participating well. There are many ways to participate. You can join class discussions and share your thoughts and opinions. You can actively participate in group activities. And you can help out around the class, picking up trash or volunteering to hand out papers. You can also lose participation points by not working or being distracting.
Classroom Conduct: All San Domenico school rules apply in my classroom. You must respect your fellow students, me, and the room itself. In addition, because we are studying Religion, you must be very careful to respect the beliefs of everyone in the room, even if they are different from your own beliefs.
iPad and Laptop Classroom Use Policy: When iPads and laptops are in use in the classroom, students are expected to remain on task, as assigned by the teacher, at all times. "Misuse" of the iPads and laptops will be at the teacher's discretion. Some examples of misusing this technology are as follows: “chatting” with friends, playing a game, web surfing, taking photos or videos, doing other classwork or homework, or playing music or videos.Failure to adhere to the San Domenico Middle School technology policies may negatively impact your grade.
First Infraction: The first time an infraction occurs, the device will be confiscated for the rest of the class.
Second Infraction: The second time a student is off task on a devce, the device will be confiscated for the rest of the day, which may impact assignments in other classes.
Third Infraction: The third time an infraction occurs, the device will be given to an administrator, and the student's parents will need to come in and arrange to retrieve it.
